About

What is ISLA?

Islanders’ Secure Land Association (ISLA) is working to maintain the diversity of the Hornby Island community by answering the ongoing need for permanently affordable housing.

Hornby Island’s distinction comes with challenges: a seasonal service economy, rental housing that is often available only part of the year, and high property values that are out of reach for local wage-earners.

Our work helps bridge the gap between secure housing and the modest incomes of many who live and work here – people who are vital to our community’s well being.
